6th Cohort Finally Takes Off!

The 6th Cohort of Teach For Zimbabwe Fellows has officially started their fellowship, and they’ve hit the ground running! From day one, their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference have been clear. Dubbed the “Energetic Cohort,” these young leaders are already showing what it means to inspire, engage, and lead in their schools and communities.

At Domboshava Secondary School, it was “on your marks, get set, go!” as Ordia Ndalega and the team kicked off inter-house competitions, including high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Despite the small student enrollment, nearly half of the students actively participated, making it a lively and exciting first day. The warmth and welcome from the school made it a truly memorable start.

In Mutoko, fellows jumped straight into action with entrepreneurship clubs, engaging students in creative and practical learning experiences.

At Chifedza High School, Media Mutingwende shared how the welcoming atmosphere helped her feel comfortable, valued, and ready to inspire. Athletics competitions were in full swing, and fellows supported the event, recording results and encouraging students throughout.

Cleanliness and care for the school environment were high on the fellows’ agenda. At Magwari Primary School, Miss Makwasha led the way in morning cleaning activities, showing how small acts of care can create a positive and productive learning space.

Across other schools, fellows are already immersing themselves in school life: Didymus Mudziwepasi is actively leading PE sessions, Mr Katsande is engaging with students at Saba Secondary School, Temba Mafico is preparing for inter-school sports initiatives at Tabudirira Secondary, and Tafadzwa Humphries is working with students to care for school gardens.

From the first day, it’s clear that the 6th Cohort is proactive, energetic, and ready to make a real difference. We are proud of everything they’ve started and excited to see the impact they will continue to make throughout their fellowship.

Well done, 6th Cohort! Keep inspiring, leading, and shaping Zimbabwe’s classrooms.
