Zimbabwe has made significant progress in expanding access to education and strengthening its education system. The Government, through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and other stakeholders, continues to invest in improving teaching and learning, strengthening teacher capacity, expanding infrastructure and promoting equitable access to quality education. However, persistent socioeconomic and geographic disparities mean that many learners, particularly those in high-need and marginalised communities, continue to face barriers to achieving their full potential. Learners in many rural and underserved communities experience challenges including limited access to essential school infrastructure, poverty, food insecurity, limited digital connectivity and other socioeconomic pressures. These factors can affect attendance, participation, learning outcomes and the ability of children to transition successfully through the education system.

There are also important learning gaps that require continued attention. While Zimbabwe has a strong tradition of education and a committed teaching workforce, differences in school resources, teacher availability, learning environments and access to appropriate teaching and learning materials contribute to variations in educational outcomes across schools and communities. Evidence has highlighted significant disparities in learning achievement between higher-performing and lower-performing schools, particularly among learners from disadvantaged backgrounds. These challenges are not the responsibility of one institution alone. They require sustained collaboration between Government, schools, teachers, communities, development partners, the private sector and civil society. Strengthening education outcomes requires complementary investments in teacher development, learner support, foundational learning, digital inclusion, leadership and school-community partnerships. Teach For Zimbabwe seeks to contribute to these national priorities by working alongside the Government and other education stakeholders to strengthen teaching and learning, support educators, develop young leaders and expand opportunities for learners in communities where additional support is most needed. Through its programmes, TFZ complements existing education efforts by bringing additional capacity, innovation, partnerships and resources into schools and communities.
