Edson Dongo to Represent Zimbabwe at Continental Education in Emergencies Event
When stability falters, education becomes even more essential—not just as a pathway to learning, but as a lifeline for hope, structure, and resilience. Teach For Zimbabwe is incredibly proud to announce that Edson Dongo, a trailblazing alumnus from our inaugural cohort, has been invited to participate in the prestigious Education in Emergencies System Leaders Event taking place in Kenya from April 30 to May 4, 2025.
This continental gathering brings together visionary education leaders to confront one of Africa’s most urgent challenges: ensuring learning continues amid conflict, displacement, and disaster. Edson’s invitation to this event is a testament to his unwavering dedication to safeguarding education in Zimbabwe’s most vulnerable communities.
From rural classrooms affected by drought to regions shaken by political unrest, Edson has shown what it means to be an educational first responder. He has spearheaded the creation of mobile learning hubs, trained teachers in crisis-sensitive pedagogy, and championed innovative strategies to keep children learning—even when the odds are stacked against them.
At the Kenya forum, Edson will do more than represent Zimbabwe—he’ll be a vital voice in shaping collaborative, cross-border solutions. His contributions will center on emergency preparedness, psychosocial support for learners, and the role of data in crisis-responsive education systems. He will also be part of knowledge-sharing platforms aimed at amplifying frontline innovations and translating them into scalable, system-wide responses.
This moment is more than an individual achievement—it reflects the growing recognition of grassroots leadership and local innovation in global education spaces. Edson’s work underscores a fundamental truth: even in times of disruption, schools can serve as sanctuaries, offering consistency, care, and a space to dream.
As he joins fellow leaders in Kenya, we celebrate Edson’s commitment, courage, and leadership. He carries with him the aspirations of thousands of learners, the spirit of his communities, and the vision of Teach For Zimbabwe—to ensure that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to quality education.
We wish Edson success as he contributes to shaping a future where education remains uninterrupted, inclusive, and transformative—even in emergencies.
