Amon’s Innovative Livestock Feeding Initiative Gains Traction Amid Climate Change Concerns – 4th Cohort

In the wake of escalating climate change challenges, Amon Forichi, a member of the 4th cohort stationed at Alpha Mpapa High School, has taken a proactive stance towards mitigating its impact on both humans and wildlife. Observing the detrimental effects of urbanization, industrialization, mining, and farming on the environment, Amon highlights the urgent need for comprehensive mitigation strategies to safeguard not only human interests but also those of livestock and wild animals.

While acknowledging human efforts to combat climate change through various measures, Amon underscores the glaring lack of initiatives aimed at alleviating its effects on wildlife and livestock. Motivated by this gap, Amon and his spouse, Hildah Forichi, have initiated a groundbreaking project centered around selling molasses as a sustainable feed option for livestock.

Their venture offers a drum of molasses at $115 and 20 liters at $12 inclusive of transport costs, containers, and the molasses itself. The business has witnessed remarkable success with clientele extending beyond Zimbabwe’s borders to countries like the UK and Botswana. Domestically, their services cater to regions such as Gweru, Beitbridge, Rusape, Kadoma, Headlands, Mutare, Bulawayo, Muzokomba, Chegutu with a significant presence in Harare.

To ensure accessibility for all clients regardless of order size or location, Amon provides transportation services via buses for smaller quantities while personally delivering large tonnages directly to their customers’ doorsteps. This customer-centric approach has not only facilitated convenience but also fostered strong relationships with their growing client base.

Amon Forichi’s innovative initiative stands as a beacon of hope in addressing climate change impacts on wildlife and livestock while simultaneously promoting sustainable practices within the agricultural sector. As they continue to expand their reach both locally and internationally, the TFZ innovative fellow’s commitment to environmental conservation serves as an inspiring example for others looking to make a positive difference in combating climate change.
