Future of Education (Rural Light Box)

Rural Light program is the brain- child of TFZ and Protonics a locally IT company who combined their strengths in ICTs, Engineering and Education.  Protonics and TFZ have come up with the Rural Light Program aimed at increasing the access to digital resources for learners, teachers and community members who are located in the marginalised areas of Zimbabwe. The Rural Light program also seeks to equip most young people in the rural communities with theoretical and practical knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, Sports, Arts and Mathematics, so as to stimulate creativity and to promote heritage-based innovations for the betterment of their communities. To bridge the digital divide through the provision of tablets or mobile devices that will have access to the Rural Light Box (RLB) (Server). The Rural Light Box is a Technology developed under the Rural Light Program and it enables learners and members of the community to have wired& wireless access to huge amounts of educational content (video, pictures and text) without the need of the internet. The program is identified with an aphorism which says ‘No WIFI No Problem” for the rural learners. The program is being implemented in Chiredzi and Mutoko, in our placement schools.
