OUR MISSION

Our mission is to attract a diverse set of leaders to teach for two years in Zimbabwe’s highest-need communities so that they can unleash their own leadership and the leadership of their students. We assist in the implementation of an improved education system that is holistic and equitable and meets diverse needs. Teach for Zimbabwe works to provide the tools necessary for these children to successfully navigate the world that they live in and fulfill their true potential. To develop diverse potential 21st century leaders to provide equitable and holistic education in the most marginalized communities.

Crisis

Over 67% of Zimbabwe’s schoolchildren do not have access to holistic, quality education that will ensure they can reach their full potential. Some of the key problems include:

  • Poor Learning Facilities
  • Shortage of Leaning Materials
  • Inadequate Teaching Staff
  • Overcrowded Classrooms

The Problem

The widening economic crisis in Zimbabwe is contributing to a continuous decline in the quality of education at high-need schools. More than 1.2 Million children of school-going age (3-16 years old) are out of school (UNICEF)
